Black, White and Splashes of Cow print: 5 quick steps to styling monochrome like a fashionista
Okay. First of all no, you aren’t seeing things…. this post is fashionably late. If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you’ll know that Monday’s my usual posting day, but let’s just say a combination of the weather and other um… unforeseen circumstances meant I couldn’t serve this look to you yesterday (sorry!) In my last post, we went back to basics, so this time around I thought I’d switch things up and show you how to rock monochrome like a fashionista ’cause you know… get you a girl who can do both and all that.
Holding that casual Insta baddie pose like… (I actually amost fell over several times while doing this)
1) Colour block it like it’s hot
Colour blocking is one of my favourite trends as it’s such an easy way to inject some variation into your wardrobe without having to buy lots of separate pieces. I bought this jumper dress last year and it’s definitely one of the pieces I was most excited to dig out for AW19/20. It’s the perfect combo of style and ‘slouchiness’, plus bonus points for the fact that the sleeves actually almost cover my hands (can I please get an amen, tall girls?)

2) Grab an aviator for high-flying vibes
Ah, the aviator. It’s such an outerwear classic and one of the coolest ways to rock the monochrome trend… while keeping super toasty! I got mine a couple of years back and it’s definitely that piece I find myself reaching for on those days where you wake up thinking you’ve been teleported to the arctic in your sleep (yikes). If you’re on the hunt for the perfect aviator jacket, your best bet would be to choose one with metallic hardware in an oversized fit for some serious style notes.

3) Snatch that waist
Despite what Instagram’s been showing us, not everyone was born with a super snatched waist (*raises hand*), but don’t panic! You can still play the Insta baddie game without reaching for an editing app– just add a belt to your chunky knit to create the silhouette you want! I’ve styled my jumper dress with a cow print belt… I really love how the print complements the monochrome tones and the abstract buckle adds a classy minimalist touch!

4) Make some serious style ‘mooves’ with your accessories
Love it or hate it, cow print’s currently trending and there’s a reason for that: It’s super hot! I’m a huge fan of animal print so I didn’t waste any time hopping on this bandwagon, especially ’cause the colours are so easy to wear! Go for lots of cute accessories rather than a larger piece to avoid looking like… well, the real deal.

5) Take your look to new heights
Shoes are arguably… no, in fact they’re definitely the most important part of any outfit and a good pair of white ankle boots is bound to go a long way this season! Plain, printed or two-tone, they’re the ultimate ‘wear with everything’ piece to finish off any outfit. Go for a heeled pair with a pointed toe to really take your look to the next level.
