Chocolate Drops: My top 5 tall-girl-friendly knitwear pieces… for that sweater dress slay or hot chocolate hibernation life! ??

So, it looks like we’re back to those sub-zero temperatures again… Y’know- the ones where it’s absolutely FREEZING, but you’ve left your gloves at home (or lost one like this silly gal did yesterday). All you wanna do is just tuck your hands into your sleeves and burrow into the cosy cocoon of an oversized jumper- But ah wait… you’re a tall woman, so none of the cute, cosy jumpers fit properly and you’re stuck with a knitted 3/4 sleeve crop top… in one degree weather (yaaaaaaaaaaay!) Every tall woman knows cold weather dressing can be a complete nightmare, but since I’m taking my new role as your Angel Godmother very seriously I thought I’d save you the search and put together a list of my top 5 tall-friendly knitwear pieces! Whether you’re heading out for some sweater dress slay or snuggling in with a mug of hot chocolate, these cosy knits will make cold weather styling an absolute dream. Oh, and ’cause I love you so much, I even threw in a few pics to show you how it’s done. You’re welcome, dah-ling.

To start off, I slipped on this gorgeous colour block oversized jumper from Y.A.S. Apparel, snapped up in Asos’ boxing day sale! With its chevron pattern and chunky knit, this one of those on-trend pieces that’s actually super wearable, plus, it’s from the ‘tall’ section, which means (drum roll, please)… The sleeves actually cover my hands (yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!) I honestly can’t tell you how happy this makes me ’cause lawd knows your girl is oh-so-sick of that dreaded wrist chill that every tall woman knows (and loathes) so well! Anyway… it’s kinda got that casual #IWokeUpLikeThis relaxed fit thing going on so you could totally dress it down, but since casual ain’t really my thing, I slipped on a leopard print belt to add a bit of ‘rawr’ factor!

This particular jumper’s actually sold out online (surprise, surprise!), but if you wanna get the look, check out this colour block beaut from Missguided! It’s not actually a ‘tall’ piece, but it fits pretty well on the 5’9 model (#TallGirlsUnite) so you may as well give it a whirl!

If you really need those extra inches (I feel you, girl!) and you’re a fan of layering, then this longline colour block cardigan might be just the thing for you! Featuring a neutral colour pallette and flattering maxi length, this is one of those pieces you can just throw on for an instant style statement.

Chunky knits are pretty darn toasty… but not toasty enough to be skipping out on outerwear completely. Since it was another one of those ‘this dress is way too cute to cover up with a coat’ situations, this time around I reached for the black faux fur gilet from ‘Fur ‘n Forests‘ instead! The perfect ‘best of both worlds’ cover up, gilets are one of my faves as they keep you super cosy without putting a downer on your style, plus they’re super easy to wear… especially if you go for one in a neutral hue like moi! I bought mine from New Look last year, but I’ve managed to find a similar one for you here, so you can be fashionably frostbite-free too!

I was really feelin’ the warm, chocolaty tones my Y.A.S knit has going on, but if #AllBlackEverything’s more your kinda vibe, you could always style your faux fur gilet with this très noir jumper dress from Boohoo. Featuring a super soft knit and tall-friendly length, this is one of those wardrobe staples you’ll be reaching for again and again!

To really make the chocolate notes pop, I accessorised with some tortoiseshell resin earrings (similar here), and added a slick of Too Faced liquid lipstick in ‘Chocolate Cherries‘. With its rich, warm hue and silky-smooth forumla, this is by far my favourite lip colour for the cooler months- I mean, it even smells like chocolate! I know people joke about beauty products being good enough to eat, but seriously, this is one of the few lippies I’d probably squirt over a couple of scoops of ice cream if no one was watching! Oh… and speaking of chocolate, can we please take a moment to appreciate how well this beautiful, marble background complements my earrings? Didn’t plan that one at all. Nope. Totally accidental.

Since nothing complements chocolate more than a sprinkling of vanilla, why not pair your tan-hued accessories with this slinky twist-back jumper? With its super slouchy silhouette and deep v cut, it’s one of those winter-worthy pieces with a bit of ‘Ooh la la!’

To finish off, I went for a hint of ‘ooh la la’ m’self, and paired my favourite black thigh high boots with a brown snakeskin crossbody bag (similar here). When it comes to cold-weather dressing, thigh highs are the way to go; they’re such a great way of adding a little sass to a look… without having to shiver away! I bought mine from Free People a while back, but these Asos beauts are such a great alternative- they’re even made specifically for us tall gals! I’m still looking for a way to make them stay up (that around the ankle slouch just ain’t cute, honey) , so if you’ve got any tips, girl… I’m all ears!

Wear them the right way, and thigh high boots are an instant style win, so if you’re stuck on how to wear yours, this roll-neck splice stunner from Missguided would be the perfect pairing!
