HAPPY EASTER, SWTLINGS! 😃🐇🐣Still can’t believe we’re already more than halfway through April – how’d that happen!? Also, can we please discuss the fact that we’re actually having a bank holiday weekend where there hasn’t been a single cloud in sight, talk less of rain? #Shooketh. As a self-professed Little Miss Sunshine, I’ve been absolutely loving the weather, so I put together a look featuring sunny, smiley vibes, along with my top five skirts for nailing effortless ‘sun’s out, legs out’ long weekend style.
To start off, I slipped on this gorgeous spot print midi skirt, snapped up from New Look a while back. I recently came to the conclusion that I’m soooooo over short skirts- the thing is, when you’re tall (I’m 6′), every skirt is short on you, and after a while it kinda just starts to get… well, boring. I’ve been on the lookout for more midis, and this was deffo one of those ‘love at first sight’ pieces; it’s such a classy length, but the thigh slit gives it a hint of ‘ooh la la’ and stops it looking basic… J’adore.
I snapped mine up from New Look’s website and it’s sold out, but luckily you can still steal my style, thanks to Amazon! Amazon are absolute lifesavers when it comes to online shopping… I can’t tell you the amount of times they’ve saved me from despairing when my favourite pieces weren’t in stock elsewhere, so if you’re ever in doubt, check ’em out!
On another note, New Look are totally killin’ it with the thigh flash game this season- I picked out a skirt with neutral, chocolatey tones (it is Easter after all), but if you’re after something with a lil’ more zing, check out its pretty, floral style twin below! Featuring an adorable ditsy floral print and flattering a-line silhouette, it’s one of those instant ‘add to bag’ pieces you’ll find yourself wearing to death!
For ladies who ain’t all about that zingy life, this babe of a skirt from New Look (surprise, surprise!) might be the one for you! Pop it on with a cotton tee for cool, casual vibes, or pair it pretty in a shirred bardot crop top for super feminine style!
With the chocolate drops in full swing, all I needed was a little cream to boot, so I popped on this adorable white crop top (similar), bought from ‘Primarni’ last year. This was that piece I pretty much lived in during summer 2018- it combines two of my favourite things (broderie anglaise and bardot), plus IT’S MADE OF COTTON (yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy!) This might seem like no biggie to some of you, but as a gal who’s sweated her way through several scorching days, let me just tell you: polyester and all those fake fabrics are officially CANCELLED.
Ahem… back on topic, if you’re the kinda lady who dares to bare, this slinky extreme split maxi from Pretty Little Thing was made for you! Featuring sassy snake print in a super sexy silhouette, this is one skirt that’s guaranteed to make ’em s-s-s-top ‘n stare!
Would it really be Easter without a chocolate overload? Um… obviously not, so I picked out some fitting accessories, starting with these beautiful Primark earrings. Now, I have a bit of a confession to make: I was actually drawn to these ’cause they reminded me of marble chocolate cake. If you’ve never tried it, first of all please do, secondly, YUM, and finally, yes the food factor drew me in… but the way the rectangle shape makes the earrings look super expensive is what actually made me stay, m’kay? Since I’m all about that matchy-matchy life, I also popped on some brown wooden bangles, and added a layered pearl necklace to show off the bardot neckline.
To finish off, I grabbed my two new faves- this stunning macrame bucket bag, and these adorable woven court shoes from Miss Selfridge. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I pretty much never buy anything full-price, but I couldn’t resist treating myself to this pretty pair- I mean, talk about a match made in heaven! I feel like they’re the perfect holiday combo as the bag’s pretty roomy, and the shoes have the perfect heel height for comfortable sightseeing! I can definitely see them being worn to the point of no return over the next few months, so watch this space.
If you’re stuck on what to pair them with, why not give Boohoo’s pretty, palm print maxi a whirl? Featuring vacay vibes in a tall-friendly length, this is one piece that’ll take you from poolside to party in a single flash of thigh.
And there you have it: how to style that thigh slit skirt to keep you cool (but lookin’ hot) over the Easter weekend! See below for alternatives to all the pieces featured in this post, and subscribe to my mailing list for post notifications, tall girl tips and more!
