Daisy Dream ?

So it may seem like summer is almost over, particularly in the last couple of weeks when Mr Sun has decided to be just a teeny bit anti-social. On days when he decides not to show that pretty face of his, I like to make my own pretend sunshine by wearing a little pop of yellow, and this daisy-inspired outfit was no exception.

There’s something about daisies which I absolutely love; they’re the first that sign that summer’s round the corner when they start to bloom in late spring, and since the recent heatwave left the grass looking more like hay (RIP, flowers), I’d been dreaming of daisies and decided to bring them back to life with this look.

I started by accessorising with a set of diy hair pins which I made by pinning these artificial daisies onto some Primark hair grips. The great thing about these is they’re really easy to make, plus the pins are so subtle, it looks like you have real flowers in your hair… without the need to endanger the dwindling daisy population.* To keep the theme going, I also made a matching choker, available from my online shop, which I paired with some oversized studs I got a while back (similar here).

Onto the outfit itself: if you’ve read my first post, you’ll know that my two favourite ‘Bs’ are broderie anglaise and bardot necklines. This Primark top went above and beyond by combining these with my favorite ‘C’ of the summer: cotton! Now don’t get me wrong; I love a flowy polyester blouse as much as the next girl… but when it comes to keeping you cool, nothing beats a good cotton one, particularly when it’s only £10, and when the pretty, floral details match the rest of your outfit.

With the flowers planted firmly in place, all that was left was to wait for a little sunshine, and this beautiful H&M skirt certainly didn’t disappoint. The calf-length hemline adds classy touch, but the centre slit still allows you to flash a peek of leg without showing too much. Can I also send a shout-out to H&M for creating a skirt with (drumroll, please) pockets. I repeat: it has POCKETS (yay!) I’m sure it’s this small, but very important detail which made it so popular (it’s now sold out online), but you can still snap up this equally cute and adequately-pocketed one from Shein.

To finish off, I kept it neutral with some white clog sandals and an embroidered cross-body bag, which doubles up as a cute clutch when the handle’s tucked in. Both are currently sold out online, but pop into your local Peacocks store to see if you can grab the last pair  of sandals in your size. Hopefully you’ll luck out like I did, but if not I’ve trawled the internet for some similar styles, which are linked below (you’re welcome, ladies!)

Let me know whether you’ve been daisy dreaming too; if so get yourself some daisy accessories, add a yellow skirt, and you too can walk off into wearing the sunshine in your cute outfit.

Much love,

Miss SWT
