Diamonds and Pearls: How to nail party season fashion, for ladies who are more into class than sass! ??

Sooooooo… I kind of started out the whole party season outfit series with a bit of a bang, which is great great ‘n all… but it’s not every day I’m feeling those sassy vibes. I’m the kind of gal who likes to keep ’em guessing when it comes to my wardrobe, so this time around I thought I’d share some tips on how to do partywear in cool, classy style!

Pearls. They’re one of those things that instantly scream ‘classic style’, so naturally when I saw this beautiful Blue Vanilla blouse, it went right to the top of my Christmas wish list! With its delicate lace sleeves and pretty pearl detailing, this is elegance summarised in a single piece! I must admit, I’m usually the first girl to reach for a strapless bra if there’s any chance my bra straps will be on show (I can just hear my mum screaming “EHN!? SHOWING BRA STRAPS??? LIKE A RUFFIAN!? #KidsOfAfricanParentsUnite), but I actually think the little peekaboo style here is a great way of adding a little colour pop to an otherwise muted palette.

To create a super feminine silhouette, I paired the blouse with this white denim midi skirt (knee length if you’re tall… sigh!), bought from H&M a while back (similar here). I feel like a pencil skirt is the perfect thing if you’re tryna take a look from ‘baddie’ to ‘ladaaay’ (not that you can’t be both, but y’know what I mean), and I love love how the zip and distressed hem detail stop this piece from being on the wrong side of basic! There’s something about wearing white that makes pretty much anything look more expensive, so this is a total wardrobe winner for me (no wonder I can’t stop smiling!)

When it comes to pearls, it’s definitely a case of ‘the more, the merrier’, so I popped on some lil’ accessories, which are totally fit for a princess! To start off, I sprinkled some pearls in my hair- a little DIY project I threw together using some hair pins from ‘Primarni’. They come in different colours, but I picked black ones so it’d look like they’re kind of casually floating mid-air (or mid-hair?… Never mind), rather than being too ‘try hard’. Since co-ordination is kind of my thing, I also grabbed a pair of matching triangle earrings, and my absolute favourite choker of all time (it’s pearl-encrusted denim… eeeek!) This pairing is an oldie, (and a goodie!), but I did manage to find some pretty similar ones here , so you can slay in sparkly style too, sis!

Speaking of princessing, no pearly look is ever really complete without some diamonds thrown in, so I picked out some embellished block heel sandals and a pearl-encrusted clutch to finish off (kinda like this!) These sparkly stunners have been in my shoedrobe a fair while, and they’re one of my faves ’cause they kind of give me Cinderella’s glass slipper vibes (y’know… if the shoe fits ‘n all!) With their comfy block heel and buckle strap, this similar (and pearlier!) pair will let you dance the night away, before dashing off into your Uber at the stroke of twelve without the need for a nationwide search the next day (who needs Prince Charming anyway?)

And there you have it: effortlessly elegant partywear, for the modern-day princess! See below for alternatives to the items featured in this post, and don’t forget to let me know your thoughts on this look in the comments section too!

Much Love,

Miss SWT
